Florida 4-H Hall of Fame

Herbert F. Morgan

Herbert F. Morgan was a very active member of 4-H as a young man in Leon County and as an adult he was involved in starting the 4-H Legislature Program. After the inception of the legislature program he helped develop and refine many aspects of it for the next ten years serving as an advisor and liaison.  He worked directly with many young people as a mentor and coach. His dedication to refine the program during its early years made it one of the premier youth leadership programs in Florida. Morgan served in the Florida Legislature for many years as the chairman of the house appropriations committee and chairman of the house rules and calendar committee. “I know positively that my 4-H club involvement as a youth has been a significant contributor to my success in business, legislative service and community involvement.  I gained knowledge, experience, confidence and leadership skills that helped prepare me to complete my university education and succeed professionally and politically,” Morgan said. He says, “ My continued involvement with 4-H as a parent and legislator gave me the opportunity the provide guidance and some of the same contributions 4-H gave to me back to the program.  Giving back a small part of myself has continued my personal growth and I hope to give back more in the future.”
