Damon Miller, Sr.

Damon Miller Sr. is a high profile leader in Florida 4-H, working as State 4-H leader and with minority youth. He has assisted in planning and coordinating the Florida 4-H Legislature, 4-H Public Speaking, and the 4-H Share the Fun programs since 1976. He is well accepted and admired by his co-workers at the county, state and national levels. Miller first served 4-H as a assistant agent in Leon County and in 1972 he became a State 4-H Youth Specialist with Florida A&M University. He was an important link between Florida A&M and the University of Florida’s 4-H programs and many county workers looked to him for guidance. Miller’s goals were to expand the entire 4-H organization to the farthest limits so it can fulfill its potential. “I want for us to become the leading proactive youth organization in Florida,” Miller said. Himself a 4-H alumnus, Miller knew the power 4-H holds to change young lives. During his tenure as assistant dean for 4-H, Miller provided leadership for 4-H program development and evaluation.  He always had an open door policy for agents, parents, faculty, staff, 4-H members and anyone wanting to discuss 4-H. Miller knew no obstacle was too big when he wanted to establish a program or help out young people. He actively invested many hours of his own time and skills to establish programs for all the youth in Florida 4-H.
