E. Hyde has given more than twenty years to the Florida 4-H program. He
started as a member in Gilchrist County and eventually became president of
the Florida 4-H Foundation as an adult and professional. He was also a
member of the Duval county 4-H Foundation for several years.
As a 4-H member he was president of the State 4-H Council in
1981and the winner of the State Public Speaking Contest in 1979. He
attended National 4-H Congress and National 4-H Conference and was a
member of the National Conference Planning Board in 1981. "4-H taught
me leadership and organizational skills. The skills I learned there
directly relate to my professional life as a practicing attorney.
Additionally 4-H first gave me the opportunity to speak publicly. These
are skills I use every day as a lawyer," Hyde said. Hyde has worked
long and hard for the Florida 4-H Foundation to raise money for 4-H
programs. He has served two terms as president of and recently was
instrumental in designing a plan to keep all four 4-H camps operating
despite recent budget cuts. Hyde feels he is giving the future back to the
program that gave so much to him in the past. Hyde
is a partner in Foley and Lardner, the tenth largest firm in the United
States, and was named "Best
Lawyer in America."
He is also a member of the Jacksonville Youth Crisis Center Board of
Directors, the Northeast Florida Safety Council Board of Directors and is
