P.
Steven Futch has been involved in 4-H since 1958. He is a role model for
youth in Bradford County. Futch and Jones Funeral Home have provided 4-H
calendars every year for 40 years. This not only makes 4-H more visible in
the community, but it also sends a message to the 4-H community that
business care about young people and what they are doing. Futch always
finds time to help out 4-H by supporting the foundation’s fund-raising
events. He offers encouragement to 4-Hers telling them they can do
whatever they set their mind to do. Futch is truly a friend of 4-H and
even with his busy schedule he always finds time to drop in and see how
things are going and to find out what might need his help. “4-H has
helped me want to be a better role model for youth,” Futch said. Futch
serves on the Bradford County 4-H Foundation Scholarship Committee. He has
helped at the local Tropicana Speech Competition for many years and
supported the 4-H Strawberry Auction which helps raise funds for 4-H
Scholarship awards. Futch said “ 4-H has influenced many young
persons’ character in this Community by being a good example of how to
study, work and live together. In a small community such as ours, 4-H is a
force of motivation in our young people. The work ethics which are learned
through 4-H are used for the
rest of your life.”
