Doris
Base was involved in 4-H for more than 40 years and contributed greatly to
the advancement of Orange County 4-H. She taught classes, served on
committees and assisted individual members with projects and record books.
She was the mother of four 4-H members, a club leader for 20 years, a
chaperone for summer camp, state events and national trips.
She served on the Orange County Cooperative Extension Overall
Advisory Board and the Orange County 4-H Budget Committee. The impact she
had on 4-H is far reaching and has lasted over the years. Mrs. Base was a
role model for many 4-Hers and helped them become successful adults and
responsible citizens. She was a resource that was tapped repeatedly
because she always responded with dedication and enthusiasm. Base helped
guide the 4-H program with stability and consistency as a volunteer. 4-H
was more than just a hobby for her it was a calling. A calling she
answered with years of dedicated service and endless enthusiasm. She did
more than have a good impact on youth, she changed their lives. She was a
leader, mentor, instructor, chaperone and friend.
