4-H Small Engine Series:  Start Your Engines

This curriculum focuses on small engines and their applications.  It is an interactive and experiential curriculum, which teaches life skills and small engine concepts.  This curriculum was produced by the 4-H Cooperative Curriculum System.
SE1 Start Your Engines 1:  Crank It Up!  4H CCS 7324 Ordering INFO
This activity guide is for 4-H members age 9-11, and is the first in the Start Your Engines series.  In Crank It Up! 4-H'ers will learn; to identify the external parts of a small motor, how to start engines properly, identify tools, about power, about lubrication, about air filters, about cooling systems, about spark plug maintenance, identify different small engines, and understand safety labels and protective gear. 
SE2 Start Your Engines 2:  Warm It Up!  4H CCS 7325 Ordering INFO
This activity guide is for 4-H members ages 12-14, and is the second in the Start Your Engines series.  In Warm It Up! 4-H'ers will learn; how to classify small engine types, to identify small engine parts, to identify specialty tools, engine sizes, to understand compressions, to understand oil grades, to understand carburetors, to understand transmission of power, seasonalize your engine, and how to start your own business. 
SE3 Start Your Engines 3:  Tune It Up!  4H CCS 7326 Ordering INFO 
This activity guide is for 4-H members ages 15 and up, and is the third in the Start Your Engines series.  In Tune It Up! 4-H'ers will learn to; identify small engines by sound, use diagnostic tools, overhaul an engine, reassemble an engine's air and fuel system, tear down and rebuild an electric system, tear down and reassemble an engine base, about buying and selecting new engines, and how to start your own business.
