Unit I: Understanding Pesticide Interactions 4H ESL 40 | View PDF Sample |
| Ordering INFO | ||
![]() |
This leader-led group project is for 4-H members ages 14 and up and is the first in the Soil, Water, and Land Use series. This curriculum makes use of the Chemical Movement in Soils-Youth Version (CMIS) program which illustrates the influence of soil properties, chemical properties, rooting depth, precipitation and evapo-transpiration upon the movement and persistence of organic chemicals (pesticides) in well drained soils. 4-H'ers are encouraged to investigate and choose pesticides for a given soil which will have the minimum adverse impact on water quality. In EDIS the DLN is 4H 134.

This leader-led group project is for 4-H members ages 15 and up and is the second in the Soil, Water, and Land Use series. This curriculum will help 4-H'ers understand nitrogen, its importance to life and its implications for water quality. 4-H'ers will then be able to make more responsible and informed decisions about our natural resources. In EDIS the DLN is 4H 135.

This leader-led project is for 4-H members ages 11-18 years old, and is the third in the Soil, Water and Land Use series. The goal of Wetlands is to enhance the understanding of wetlands; from their uniqueness as an ecosystem to their benefits for humans. Through a better understanding of wetlands 4-H'ers can make more responsible and informed decisions about this natural resource. In EDIS the DLN is 4H 098.

In-Touch Science |
||
| This activity guide is for grades 3-5, and is published by Cornell University. The teaching style of the program emphasizes the fun of engaging in the scientific process of discovery using simple and safe activities that give children the freedom to question and explore. Together, adults and children will share "I wonder …" statements that can lead to heightened interest in science and exploration. Activities demonstrate the common science concepts between the two fields of study and help youth understand the science in their daily lives. As an example, children work wool fibers into felt fabric and in the process discover that wool fibers have microscopic scales. They understand how tiny barbule hooks on feathers help birds fly. Each manual includes ten activities covering five science concepts. | ||
