National Events & Activities

There are many great opportunities for Florida 4-H members to attend National events. Listed in this site are some of the events that Florida 4-H sponsors and sends youth to. Please take some time and explore the different events and what they have to offer you.

National 4-H Congress, Atlanta, GA  November 25-29, 2005
A four day event which provides youth a high quality, relevant, educational experience they would not otherwise have within their state. Recreational, social, and cultural activities are exciting components of this program. Youth representing each state are recognized for the contributions they currently make in their communities. Florida 4-H partially funds approximately 30 youth to attend National Congress every year.

National 4-H Conference, Chevy Chase, MD  March 25-30, 2006

Delegates are to contribute constructive ideas on how to improve 4-H and strengthen 4-H public awareness efforts and reporting to the public. Recommendations are shared with the USDA.  Florida 4-H sends approximately four 4-H members a year.

Citizenship Washington Focus, Chevy Chase, MD
The Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) Program is an exciting educational week for senior 4-H'ers in our nation's Capitol, exploring how their individual actions can make a difference in our world.  Conducted in Washington , D.C., CWF uses our nation's capitol as a classroom in which to foster youth appreciation, understanding, and involvement in civic responsibility, government operations, and current issues. Certified volunteers may apply for sponsorship of this event.  This trip is coordinated every other year by the State 4-H Office.  Participation during an “off-year” may be coordinated by any 4-H agent who volunteers.

National 4-H Dairy Conference, Madison, WI
The National 4-H Dairy Conference is an exciting 4-day educational program held in conjunction with World Dairy EXPO. The format for this national conference is a series of educational workshops, field trips and career explorations. Over 200 outstanding 4-H'ers in dairy projects from across the country attend. Approximately 5 delegates are selected from county nominations and provided with financial support for their trip to the National 4-H Dairy Conference.
