Cats 

Cats "Skills for Life" Project Series 

This series is for youth in grades 4-12.  Youth explore animal feeding, care, selection and judging, fitting and showing, management, health, reproduction, genetics and many other topics as they develop important life skills. Each project  guide includes a separate achievement program and activities that promote learning and interaction with other youth, adult helpers, family members and the community. A leader/helper guide is listed below. 
PT11 Cat 1 - "Skills for Life" Purrfect Pals 4H CCS BU-6146 Ordering INFO
This cat project is for 4-H members ages 9-11, and is the first in the Cat "Skills for Life" series.  Purr-fect Pals will help 4-H'ers learn; to make a choice in selecting a cat, breeds, body parts, handling, grooming, showing, safety, budgets, parasites, vaccinate, and reproduction. 
PT12 Cat 2 - "Skills for Life" Climbing Up 4H CCS BU-6147 Ordering INFO
This cat project is for 4-H members ages 12-14, and is the second in the Cat "Skills for Life" series.  Climbing Up will help 4-H'ers learn about breed characteristics, six senses, showing, cat tricks, health, communication, declawing, reading food labels, and traveling. 
PT13 Cat 3 - "Skills for Life" Leaping Forward 4H CCS BU-6148 Ordering INFO
This cat project is for 4-H members ages 15 and up, and is the third in the Cat "Skills for Life" series.  Leaping Forward will help 4-H'ers learn about health and reproduction, genetics, business, older cat care, cat behavior, animal rights and welfare issues, and leadership.

This is the leader's guide to the Cat "Skills for Life" project series.
This leader's guide will help you support youth in his or her efforts to set goals and complete activities, as well as providing resources for the member's to use in completing the series.

This project for 4-Hers, 5-8 years of age, is designed for a leader-led group experience.  The curriculum, introducing the needs and care of small animals  is divided into three units: Health, Nutrition, and Care. Each lesson plan includes an opening, activities (hands-on/experiential), discussion questions, games, songs, books, an evaluation for and a parent newsletter. Pets "Skills for Life" Project Series

This series is produced for youth grades 4-12.  Youth explore animal feeding, care, selection and judging, fitting and showing, management, health, reproduction, genetics and many other topics as they develop important life skills. Each project guide includes a separate achievement program and activities that promote learning and interaction with other youth, adult helpers, family members and the community.

This project guide is for 4-H members ages 9-11, and is the first in the Pet "Skills for Life" series.  Pet Pal will help 4-H'ers learn about, select their pet, and teach them handling, environment safety, behavior, nutritious feeding, pet body parts, and researching other pets.

This project guide is for 4-H members ages 12-14, and is the second in the Pet "Skills for Life" series.  Scurrying Ahead will teach 4-H'ers about their pets digestion, breeding, feeding pets, shopping for supplies, determining sex, animal health, behavior, communication, and promotion.

This activity guide is for 4-H members ages 15 and up, and is the third in the Pet "Skills for Life" series.  Scaling the Heights will help 4-H'ers learn leadership skills, and how to plan and organize events including younger members and pets, careers, teaching others, genetics, and animal welfare issues.
