State 4-H funds to do a 4-H Publication order in Spring 2007 are being made available based on your Club enrollment for FY06, see 2007 County Literature Allocations.  You will order on-line from the "National 4-H Curriculum" catalog, (formerly known as N4HCCS, National 4-H Cooperative Curriculum Service) and have shipments sent directly to your county office.  Orders will be shipped immediately if all items are in stock.  If any items need to be printed, the complete order won't ship until August or September 2007.

Your "State 4-H funded" on-line county order must be entered and confirmed to Nancy Johnson (faxed copy of "Print Invoice") by 5pm April 24, 2007.  Any state funds not used by a county order, will be forfeit by the county.  Any county orders that exceed the allowed 2007 county allocation will be cancelled.

If you have other funds, you may place an additional order by April 25, 2007 and get the 35% CCS discount on that, as well.  The 35% discount is calculated on any items ordered on-line, by anyone, through 4/25/07.   The state 4-H office only needs a faxed copy of the invoice for the order being paid for with state 4-H funds.

EDIS
4-H Literature items produced in Florida are listed through the IFAS Communications Services website for EDIS http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/agents.html.  Each County Extension Director receives a budget allocation for the EDIS system for the state fiscal year (7/1-6/30), and determines its distribution among their county faculty.  The on-line ordering EDIS system is designed to print quantities (min. 20 copies) in black ink on white paper (B+W) on the Xerox Docutech.  Many 4-H items have special printing instructions and need to be requested by email to EDIS@ifas.ufl.edu see list at Email EDIS. 

See the IFAS Publications Catalog, CIR 1206, April 2000 (has pink cover, 1999 cover was yellow) for list of items usually available, a CD was sent to each agent in ~summer 2002 instead of 1 printed copy per county sent in the past.   There is a minimum order of 20 copies.  Some items marked "Call 4-H", "4-H Lit"  or 4HLit@.ifas.ufl.edu may be requested by email or fax to the usual EDIS address and the order will be filled if the item is in-stock in the warehouse or print shop.  

Many 4-H items with special printing instructions still need to be requested by email to EDIS@ifas.ufl.edu.

"Newsprints"
The member pieces usually printed on newsprint have been subject to delays until a sufficient need accrued to make a newsprint run economical.  If an item you need is out-of-stock, you have several choices:

1. Try to borrow newsprint copies from another county and pay them back later.  
2. If you have the For-sale notebook, the "Take Home" section is a master copy of the member piece, and you can copy it locally.
3. Print the item on a local printer from the .pdf file, if you use a color printer, color pages will print in color..
4. Print quantities of the item in B+W through the EDIS Docutech system.
5. Print quantities of the item in B+W with a color cover through the EDIS Docutech system.

Print .pdf files on your own printer. It is more expensive to print the "newsprint" items on your own printer than through EDIS on the Docutech (black ink on white paper, cost .03/pg,.  Most member workbooks "newsprints" are 24 pages [$ .72], some are 36 pages [[$1.08]).

Member or Leader Cards
Member or Leader cards can now be ordered as full sheets that you could run through your own printer.  Traditionally they have been run in green ink on 65# cardstock paper--check that your printer can take 65# cardstock paper, many can't.  There are 10 cards per sheet, 2" x 3.5" each, and you will have to cut them apart and trim off the margins.  The layout matches the Avery Color Laser Business Card format, so you could set up Merge fields using that template which is available in MS Word, WordPerfect, MS Access, and dBase 5 software.   

Member cards are 4HGCM10, Leader cards are 4HCGL20, cost is .03/sheet of 10 cards.  Email request to Melanie Mercer at EDIS@ifas.ufl.edu, specify how many full sheets you want or if you want them cut into individual cards before shipping.  

Pdf files (currently B&W only) are available here for viewing a full page of 10 cards.  You must log-on with an UFAD network username and password to view the available files (Domain = UFAD).  We hope to provide an MS Word 2000 template to print the entire sheet of 10 cards using merge fields to insert the Year and Name.  If you can afford it, you can buy special micro-perforated blank business card sheets (.30-.60/sheet) and print the whole card including the year and name on your own printer.  You must have a color laser printer or color inkjet printer to get color printouts from a file that displays in color on-screen.  B&W laser or inkjet printers give shades of gray.

The .pdf files will allow you to print the entire sheet of 10 Member cards or Leader cards on special micro-perforated blank business card paper (cost .30-.60/sheet).  Different paper finishes are needed for inkjet and for laser printers.  Laser paper may smear in Inkjet printers, Laser printer toner on Inkjet paper tends to flake off--use the correct paper for your printer!  Another consideration is the weight of the paper that your printer can handle.  The 65# cardstock from ICS is heavier than many printers can handle, the weight of the micro-perforated blank business card stock is lighter and may seem too flimsy for our Member and Leader cards.

Avery Laser Business Cards #5371 White (10 cards/sheet, 25 micro-perfed sheets/box) worked on the HP Laserjet 4 and 6L printers, however these business cards are a lighter weight than the EDIS pre-printed cardstock version.  Inkjet printers require a different Business Card product . 

For Sale Items - There is no minimum quantity.  Personal or foundation funds, credit cards or purchase orders may purchase For Sale items at any time.

EDIS funds can only be used to purchase For Sale items once-a-year, each DED sets own procedure (2002 email to 4-H Agents) .  Submit requests in April-mid May through your County Extension Director to your DED.  Within an Administrative District, the DED can reallocate unused EDIS funds to a county with no EDIS budget left to fill these special For Sale requests.

Learning Lab Kits

Florida has Learning Lab loaner kits available for Beef, Dairy, Dog, Goat, Horse, Poultry, Rabbit, Sheep, & Swine which may be borrowed by Florida County Extension Offices.  These are very expensive items, costing $315-450 each, please be careful not to lose pieces and return or forward promptly.

Spring 2001 Literature Order

The Spring 2001 Literature Order packet including catalogs and printed copies of the Bibliography and Order Form was mailed to each county from Gainesville on Wed. 3/14/01.  The order letter as (.wpd) WordPerfect file is available here.

The order form and bibliography are similar to last year's with a focus on Member project books, largely from the Minnesota 4H CCS and National 4-H Sourcebook.  A number of Project Support (PS) items have been moved to a "Supplemental Items" list (Excel .xls file), which also lists items that aren't available (Discontinued or In Revision).  Only the items on the regular order form may be ordered with the state 4-H Literature funds being allocated to your county.

You will receive a diskette with the Order Form as a MS Excel spreadsheet file this year to make the order process easier.  All you have to do is type in the quantity for the each item you would like to order and the totals will be automatically calculated by Excel.  You can download the Instructions and the 2001 order form file for your version of MS Excel here:
